Unlike the existing ‘Writing Prompts’ feature, which requires the involvement of human teachers, ‘Writing Exercises’ are fully automated. They cover a wide range, including short essays, persuasive arguments, poems, descriptive essays, giving directions, short commentary, and emails.

Users listen to an audio file for each Theme and type what they hear. The system’s algorithm then uses advanced technology to check what they have typed, instantly highlighting and correcting spelling, grammar, and other errors.

As a result, learners improve their writing skills for academic, social, or business use.

Instructions: The full passage of writing is presented line-by-line. For each line:

  1. Click the speaker icon and listen carefully to the line in English. (You can click this to listen as many times as you like.)
  2. Type what you hear into the box. If you make a mistake, it will be shown in red. (You can click the red 'X' to see the correct writing.) You can retype as many times as you like to write the line correctly.
  3. When you are satisfied with what you have typed, click the ‘next’ speaker icon to go to the next line and repeat the process.
  4. Only click ‘Save’ once you have attempted all the lines of writing. Now available on computer browsers. Mobile app coming soon. How-to video
